Magazine Advert Analysis - Chvrches

Chvrches are one of the most popular indietronica bands, they're now featured in the charts and are very well known amongst teenagers and young adults. I opted to analyse this bands advert due to their popularity so I could look into the different sections that are used in order to attract so much attention. The first notable thing about this advert is the red banner along the top that features the band's logo at quite a size along the top. This instantly shows audiences the band and influences current fans to acknowledge the advert but also shows new audiences their name as they become a household name. In smaller text below the logo it shows the name of the album and the release date, it's small so it can only be acknowledged if somebody pays full attention to the advert itself however it also makes audiences remember the album name in order to purchase it on the release date. The other notable section is the image, it features the band in a central alignment within a field furthermore the band members have been placed descending height order from left to right which is very subtle however it does appear to add a slight amount of difference to the image itself. Also the female is within the centre instantly showing her to be the singer however she is also fully clothed and doesn't reveal any flesh which shows that over sexualising females doesn't always attract audiences. The image has had a filter placed over it in order to create a vintage appearance to the image which again attracts audiences stereotypically affiliated with the indietronica genre as they are particularly into vintage fashions and appearances. The advert is very simplistic which seems to be the main common convention affiliated with the indietronica genre and I will have to take this into account when creating my final products.
