After researching a variation of digipaks associated with
the electronic and indietronica genre I felt this particular simplistic digipak
design by ‘The XX’ for ‘Coexist’ was a suitable choice. It is minimalistic
whilst also appearing to be mysterious. My idea is to follow a black and white
theme throughout the majority of the digipak and to cover the eyes on the front
cover. The close up image of eyes will be a central attraction on the disc
design itself. The use of a fire design will also feature on the disc design.
All of these ideas will add to an idea of depression which is the idea behind
the music video created, meaning the digipak and advertisement will both follow
this theme. The font selection which has been selected appears to be a vintage
typewriter style, this again fits into the conventions that were commonly seen
with the indietronica genre. The majority of the target audience appreciates
vintage fashion and wares.
